The rules

1. Only the winner pays. Bidding is free and costs nothing if you lose. This is an auction for wood, not for rank — there is no way to buy a position on this board.
2. Two formats. Rare and figured pieces sell by public auction — every bid visible as it lands, a bid in the last 2 minutes extends the clock. Logs and standing timber sell by sealed bid — nobody sees a number until close, then the entire bid sheet is published.
3. Provenance is required for public auctions: where the wood grew and how it was acquired, plus a declaration that it is legally harvested, not a CITES Appendix I species, with any Appendix II permits named. Lacey Act and CITES apply to wood exactly as they do to ivory.
4. Metal must be disclosed. Yard and fence-line trees carry nails. Saying so does not kill a sale; hiding it kills the next ten.
5. A sale reaches this board only when the winner has actually been charged, through the same escrow rail timber.bid runs for every other job.
